DEDICATED FLASH

Definition: flash gun designed to integrate automatically into a cameras exposure reading and shutter circuitry.

Definition: An electronic flash unit, made for a specific make of camera or range of makes, that uses the camera's TTL metering system to control light output automatically. Normally it will set the correct shutter speed and/or aperture for use with flash and may trigger a light in the viewfinder when the flash is charged and ready to fire. Also called designated flash.

Definition: A fully automatic flash that works only with specific cameras. Dedicated flash units automatically set the proper flash sync speed and lens aperture, and electronic sensors within the camera automatically control exposure by regulating the amount of light from the flash.

Definition: Electronic flash that must be used with specific cameras to automatically adjust the camera's exposure controls to produce the correct exposure.
