COMPLEMENTARY COLORS

Definition: 1. Any two colors of light that when combined include all the wavelengths of light and thus produce white light (see additive color). 2. Any two dye colors that when combined absorb all wavelengths of light and thus produce black (see subtractive color). A colored filter absorbs light of its complementary color and passes light of its own color.
